Brand Name Politics

In 2016 we saw the political landscape come undone with the nomination of Donald Trump. Unpredictable and off the cuff he looked like a long shot, overturned tradition, and thumbed his nose at the establishment whose support is typically required to win the White House. Most observers didn’t see what was happening until after the election. We have entered an era of Brand Name Politics. The Trump name is a the brand that carried him to to the White House. Without widespread name recognition there is little chance that someone denouncing POWs, Gold Star parents, and speaking so candidly could get away with the things he said. This blog isn’t a focus on Trump’s unprecedented rise to the Presidency, it’s focus is how his election has changed the face of politics.
